We serve delicious produce on ‘Verbena’, a historic former horse-drawn FMC narrowboat, now fully restored and open as a seasonal floating café on the beautiful river Medway. We are open March to October located in the centre of Maidstone, between the two bridges.
The Old Boat Café is something of a hidden gem serving fresh local food and great tasting coffee whilst celebrating what the river can offer.
Stop by for a quick takeaway coffee, a light lunch or a full Boatmans breakfast!
We are passionate about good food and the environment so we serve a 'Best of Kent' menu, with locally roasted coffee; vegan, dairy and gluten free cakes, amazing local scones with jam from Wye village, apple juice from Lamberhurst, traditional Kentish Huffkin rolls, salads, soups and a 'Canalman's' lunch of local cheeses and pickles. Even our salad is grown in the villages around Offham. And we've just found a wonderful little Maidstone tea company that is creating our own Old Boat Blend.
Medway Street car park – walk through the underpass, turn left at the river and find us between the bridges.
Alternatively there is parking at Lockmeadow Entertainment centre at St. Peter Wharf – cross the river at either St. Peter’s bridge, Maidstone bridge or Millennium footbridge and follow the path.
